Prime Minister expressed full understanding for the needs of children with disabilities and emphasized the necessity for appropriate support for projects which enhance the status of this population. By stressing satisfaction with the existing co-operation between State Authorities and non-governmental organizations dealing with this issue, particularly in the field of making strategic documents and within the program for improvement of their status, the Prime Minister announced that the Government of Montenegro will provide continuous and synchronized concern for development of children with disabilities. Prime Minister Đukanović said that the efforts require increased sensitivity of society as a whole towards the position of this population.

 

Representatives of the Union of Associations of Parents with Children and Youth with Disabilities "Our Initiative" introduced the Prime Minister to their activities and the problems they face on the road to better conditions for adequate work. The fact is that the adoption of a number of legislative acts has significantly improved their position, but the space for further improvement is visible in the field of educational, social and health care.

 

Minister Numanović spoke about the numerous activities conducted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare in order to improve socio-economic status of children with disabilities, so that they could grow and develop to their full potential in line with international standards.

 

At the meeting it was stated that the partnership can lead to systemic solutions that will meet the needs of this population.
